Being designated the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas, Waxahachie offers some of the best Crape Myrtles in the State of Texas. Citizens celebrate freedom each year with the hometown parade followed by the spectacular fireworks display.
2010 Crape Myrtle Festival

On July 3, the Crape Myrtle Parade kicks off at 10 am. It starts on College Street across from C.A. Wilson Co. and goes south to Main and left on Grand, ending up at Getzendaner Park.

The tailgate party and fireworks have proved to be very popular. The gates open will open at 5 p.m. July 3 to the parking lot of Lumpkins Stadium as spectators bring lawn chairs and barbecue grills to cook out before or during the show. The 3 finalists from "Battle of the Bands" will take the stage at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Starting around 9 p.m. H-E-B presents the best Firework Show.
