2012 Crape Myrtle Festival

 

 

 

Being designated the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas, Waxahachie offers some of the best Crape Myrtles in the State of Texas. Citizens celebrate freedom each year with the hometown parade followed by the spectacular fireworks display.

  

The event kicks off on the evening of July 3^rd with a spectacular fireworks show and concert at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.  The event continues on July 4^th at 10 a.m. with a patriotic parade down Main Street lined with crape myrtles in full bloom. 

 

On July 4th, the Crape Myrtle Parade kicks off at 10 am. It steps off on College Street near the post office, continuing South on College, right on Main and left on Grand, ending up at Getzendaner Park.

The tailgate party and fireworks have proved to be very popular. The gates open will open at 5 p.m. July 3rd to the Waxahachie Sports Complex as spectators bring lawn chairs and barbecue grills to cook out before or during the show.

 The Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade are free to the public.
