• President/CEO

    Mike & Bonney Ramsey
    Job Description
The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce is seeking an experienced, motivated, and community focused leader to serve as the President/CEO.  In this position, the individual will be a key representative and advocate for business owners and employers in our community.  This individual would be responsible for the overall operation, but not limited to strategic planning, policy development, staff management, financial management, market development, and member/public relations.  In addition to this position, we currently have two (2) full time employees and numerous volunteers.

The ideal candidate should be a team builder, have the ability to work and identify common needs among local small business owners, and arrange lectures, workshops, and training seminars on different management issues and opportunities.

The President/CEO will need to take an active role in local government relations while maintaining partnerships with the City of Waxahachie, Ellis County, Waxahachie Independent School District, Navarro College, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Waxahachie, and all elected officials of the City of Waxahachie and Ellis County.  Our Convention & Visitors Bureau and Economic Development efforts are under the direction of the City of Waxahachie, but are prominent partners to the success of our Chamber of Commerce.

A successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to working with our Chamber’s many partners and reporting to a Board of Directors.

Waxahachie is the County seat of Ellis County and currently has a population of approximately 35,000.  Being known for our tourism, Waxahachie is formally designated as the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas and is recognized for its excellent stock of historic homes and vibrant businesses around our historic downtown square.  Waxahachie is conveniently located at the crossroads of Interstate 35 and Highway 287, and because of its ideal location to the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex, is currently experiencing rapid business and residential growth.

A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.  A proven track record of successful leadership role with three (3) or more years of experience with a Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Agency, or equivalent is required.  We do require that you reside in Waxahachie City proper or in close proximity within Ellis County.

If you are interested, please send a letter of interest, resume, and salary requirements to Bonney Ramsey, Chairman of the Board of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, to bonramsey@charter.net.  The Deadline for applications is October 13, 2017.
